Daily Responsibilities Evaluates, designs, documents, installs, implements, tests, and performs problem isolation and resolution; and monitors, tunes, sets standards and maintains a range of computer network components and systems. Performs these functions across some, but not all, physical media, protocol stacks, hubs, routers, bridges, gateways, and network management components. Provides client consulting and training on the interface and use of the network facilities. Begins to plan research; evaluate and recommend new computer network equipment; and utilize new technologies. Uses monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems; gauge network performance; and trace data and protocol activity. Devises solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment. May develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages. Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application developers; computer operations; workstation support; company management; and departmental clients. Manages overall network? engineering, operations and security activities of the network team responsible for the FERC network
Responsible for network operations? & management including performance monitoring, fault isolation and problem resolution, routing, and routine maintenance
Ensures network security and integrity,? implementing and enforcing network security policies, procedures and standards and that all security alerts are distributed and rapidly resolved
? Supervises, trains, and schedules network personnel
Provides accurate and? timely reporting and related performance metrics and documentation
Conducts? performance management initiatives including career development counseling for supervisors and staff
Daily Responsibilities Continued Provide Help Desk Tier II/III Support and Network Operations Center Operations Services to approximately 1,600+ users. Provide ITIL driven Infrastructure Operations Services; Incident and Problem Management Services; Continuity of Operations Support Services; Configuration Management Support; Asset Management Support, and Change Management Support
Required: Years of experience (min) 6-9
Required: Degree Bachelors
Required: Subject Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
Required: Skills - 6+ years experience managing mid-to-large network implementation, management, operations and security operations, with at least 1 year as overall network manager
- 4+ years working with WAN/MAN/LAN IP network configuration & protocols for switching and routing including VPN, VIAN
- 4+ years experience with Cisco IOS, router and switch configuration
- 4+ years experience with network security
- 4+ years experience with enterprise configuration and change management processes
- Familiarity with U.S. Government Networking Standards (i.e.? NIST)
- Bachelors degree in relevant field of study (i.e. Computer sciences or related field)
